    Intramembranous oscification is the process of conversion of mesenchymal tissue into the bone which is completed in the following four steps -

    Some of the mesenchymal cells differentiate into capillaries and the others into osteoblasts. These osteoblasts appear in clusters and these clusters are named as the Oscification Centre. Osteoid is secreted by the osteoblast cells and it calcifies in few days. Woven bone and its periosteum are formed due to calcification and further deposition. Finally the formation of a mechanically stronger bone, lamellar bone, takes place.
