The researchers looked more closely at the data within the group of elite runners. Although the mean proportion of slow fibers was 79 percent in this group, individual values ranged from 27 percent in one runner to 98 percent in another. How does this finding affect your interpretation of the relationship between athletic performance and muscle-fiber types?

This tells us that those runners who were being trained for short or explosive distances and have slow fibers will perform less, and it is necessary that they train much longer distances of greater resistance, in this way they will have better success in their results due to the physiological predisposition that have their muscle fibers

    Explanation:

The same will be the opposite case in those with fast fibers.

Some scientists also associate it with sex, as some say that women mostly have slow fibers, while men mostly have fast or burst fibers.

This is why it is sometimes better for women to train for longer distance and no division tests or short and explosive distances as in the case of Usain Bolt.
