If a patient who has recently given birth vaginally is complaining of unrelenting rectal pain that is not responding to pain medications she should be examined for several possibilities such as hemorrhoids, severe constipation, hematomas or even possible rectal tears that may have occurred during delivery that were not repaired or possible infections.
