Uranium 235 has a half life of 700 million years. how long does it take a 100 gram sample of uranium 235 to decay a mass of 50 grams

    The half-life is the time needed for 1/2 of a sample to decay.

    50 g is 1/2 of 100 g, so the time needed is ... one half-life.
