Suppose that each β-adrenergic receptor bound to epinephrine converts 100 molecules of G α s into its GTP-bound form and that each molecule of activated adenylate cyclase produces 1000 molecules of cAMP per second. With the assumption of a full response, how many molecules of cAMP will be produced in 1 s after the formation of a single complex between epinephrine and the β-adrenergic receptor?

    1x10^5 molecules of cAMP

    Explanation:

The beta_adrenergic receptor can convert 100 molecules of adenylate cyclase into its GTP bounded form per molecule of epinepfrine.

Also, each molecule of activated adenylate cyclase (the GTP bound form) can produce 1000 molecules of cAMP per seconds.

Assuming full response means that all molecules of activated adenylate cyclase will produce que maximum cAMP response.

So, we have 100 activated adenylate cyclase molecules, each one producing 1000 molecules of cAMP.

That means we have 1x10^5 (100000) molecules of cAMP will be produced one second (1 s) after the formation of the complex epinephrine-beta_adrenergic receptor
