What does a ingestive heterotroph mean?

    It is a heterothrophic organism (obtains its food from other organic sources, doesn't make it on its own like autotrophs) that ingests its food prior to digesting it.

    The other kind of heterothrophs are the absortive ones, they secrete digestive enzymes into the environment, which digest food outside the cell and then absorb the products of this digestion
