The role of a fungus’s fruiting body is to produce spores so that they hopefully land and become successful. This fruiting body only develops as part of the sexual phase of the fungal life cycle for spore production. Spores are formed after asexual reproduction. They release the spores into the thin air and turn it to fungus when they land.
