Gonadotropins are hormones whose basic functions are to stimulate the gonads to perform their reproductive and endocrine processes and functions. The group of gonadotropins includes many human hormones such as the follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), the luteinizing hormone (LH) and the human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). They are produced by the anterior pituitary gland and they act on the gonads as a mechanism to regulate fertility and gamete production.
