Three-year-old Mara jumped off the couch and injured her right tibia (lower leg bone). The emergency room nurse said she "broke her cartilage." Mara's mother feels relieved that Mara didn't break her bone. Two years later, Mara seems to be limping and her mother notices that Mara's right leg appears shorter than her left.     Since the daughter is getting older and taller her cartilage is getting smaller.
