Disaccharide and polysaccharide collapse at the digestive system as a result of inability of the body system to digest them because of their complexity, the body absorbs monosaccharide which is the glucose for energy and metabolism of the body as it is the simplest form of sugar and easily broken down and digested

Polysaccharides and disaccharide are macromolecules which is made of many glucose molecules. Our body only absorb glucose because it has small size which can pass through a semipermeable membrane of the cell. So for the absorption of glucose molecules, first the polysaccharide and disaccharide are broken down into simpler substances like glucose in the stomach of digestive system and then use by the cell for energy production.
