If we put a Rhoeo leaf in plain water, the water concentration of the leaf cells will be higher than that of the plain water. The aim is to balance water concentration on the inside and outside of the organism. So, the water will exit the leaf cells, which will consequently shrink in size. The most of the cells will shrink in size, causing the leaf to shrink, too.

When we put a rheo leaf in plain water, due to high salt concentraion within the leaf and less salt concentration in the water outside, the salts will flow outwards into the water there by shrinking the leaf and giving it a spherical shape.
