Explanation: Blood flow is important for the healthy functioning of the brain. This circulating blood supplies oxygen as well as nutrients it requires to function properly. Smooth muscle cells surrounding the blood vessels in the brain are able to regulate blood flow. It is influenced by many factors such as blood viscosity, arterial blood pressure, intracranial pressure, venous outflow etc.
