    These are the 3 findings during the assessment of a child with epiglottitis: 1) child is drooling 2) child is agitated 3) child is not coughing/no coughing observed.

    Nursing interventions would be: 1) Clear airway - use tongue depressor to avoid blocking of the airway due to excessive saliva production 2) Do not leave the child alone especially when he/she is agitated or restless 3) Let the child sit in a comfortable position, preferably in an upright position.
