Why would the population of rabbits decrease if the population of mice decreased?

    Because the predators would start to prey on other small animals such as rabbits since there are less mice.

    The predators of mice would not have enough to feed on due to competition within its species, and so it might eat rabbits instead, as it can change the species on the food web.
