    = 58.8 joules

    Solution and explanation;

    Potential energy is given by the formula;

    P. E = mgh where;

    m is the mass in Kilograms

    g is the gravitational acceleration (m/s²)

    h is the height/distance in meters.

    -Well the ball is held from the ground of a distance 1.5 meters, so, h = 1.5 m.

    The mass of the ball is 4.0 kg, so m = 4.0 kg

    Hence;

    P. E = (4.0 kg) * (9.8 m/s²) * (1.5 m)

    = 58.8 Joules
