A stem cell is a cell with the unique ability to develop into specialised cell types in the body to replace cells and tissues that have been damaged or lost due to disease and the three important uses include
1. Tissue regeneration. Tissue regeneration is probably the most important use of stem cells.
2. Cardiovascular disease treatment. is also important
3. Blood disease treatments. like anemia

Stem cells, directed to differentiate into specific cell types, offer the possibility of a renewable source of replacement cells and tissues to treat diseases including macular degeneration, spinal cord injury, stroke, burns, heart disease, diabetes, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
