    In the arteries. the heart contracts and produces a wave of fluid pressure.

    When the heart it produces a wave of fluid in the arteries, blood pressure falls when the heart relaxes between beats but the system still remains under pressure do to the elasticity of the arterial walls. (without this pressure blood would stop flowing through the body)
