An experiment was conducted to determine which type of fruit attracts the most fruit flies. Equal sized pieces of apple, pear, and banana were placed in separate containers at different areas around the school. The containers allowed the fruit flies to enter, but the fruit flies were unable to escape. After one day, observations were made by the students. Which best describes an error the students made in the experiment?

The containers should have been placed in the same area (ex: same room or next to each other). By placing the containers in different areas around the school this disrupted the constants of the experiment.

    different areas around the school

If more than one variable changes at a time, the outcome of the experiment may not be clearly attributable to any one of the variables.
