Which of the following would be the best hypothesis in this experiment?

1. Since dry seeds contain actively dividing cells requiring energy, it is expected that the test tubes containing dry seeds will respire the most and turn the phenol red to yellow.

2. Since the wet seeds contain actively dividing cells requiring energy, it is expected that the test tubes containing wet seeds will respire the most and turn the phenol red to yellow.

3. Since it is not possible to detect the presence of an invisible gas, there will be no way to determine if respiration occurred in any of the test tubes.

4. Since wet seeds contain actively dividing cells requiring energy, it is expected that the test tubes containing wet seeds will respire the least and turn the phenol red to yellow.

2 is the best worded out of 2 and 4. 3 is not true, you can measure oxygen with an instrument. 1 has dry seeds with don't have water, so they stay dormant instead of respire.
