Central nervous system includes the brain and spinal cord while the peripheral nervous system includes nerves and other nervous tissue.

    Explanation:

Since the brain and the spinal chord form the central nervous system, the main function of central nervous system includes, receiving information, processing it and commanding the peripheral nervous system.

Again the peripheral nervous system being composed of nerves and other neural tissue, mainly participates perceiving sensory information, taking it to the central nervous system and executing the command given by the central nervous system.

Other than these the CNS participates in storage of memory and learning which is not possible for the Peripheral nervous system.
