    Answer;

    C. Aerobic respiration and fermentation

    Explanation; Glycolysis is the process by which glucose is broken down through various enzyme catalyzed reactions two yield two pyruvate molecules and a net energy of two ATP molecules. It is the first stage of both fermentation and aerobic respiration. Fermentation occurs in absence of oxygen gas and starts with glycolysis which results into two molecules of pyruvate which are then converted to lactic acid. In aerobic respiration which occurs in presence of oxygen gas, glycolysis is the first phase which is then followed by Kreb's cycle and the electron transport chain. All these phases enhance generation of energy in the form of ATP which is then stored or used by the cells to drive cellular processes.
