Crabon is consumed by plants to produce food and taken by other organism as food from plants. They release then CO2 either through respiration or when they die. During this entire chain, carbon moves through all the spheres of earth

Carbon constitutes the base of life on earth. Carbon and its compound regulate between the different spheres of earth to sustain the ecosystems and flow of nutrients and energy.

Carbon is exchanged between all the hemisphere i. e biosphere, geosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere. For instance - The ocean consists of largest reserve of carbon on earth (part of hydrosphere), Terrestrial biosphere comprising of non-living organic materials and fresh water sources as sink of carbon in biosphere. The sediments and soils consists of carbon (geosphere) and atmosphere consists of a large amount of gaseous carbon dioxide.

Plants take in gaseous carbon dioxide and produces food that stores in it or is consumed by other living organisms. When these organic animals or plants die eventually, they release the solid carbon contained within them either in the geosphere, biosphere or hydrosphere.
