By what pathway does oxygen leave capillaries to supply body tissues?

    The answer is diffusion over capillary cell membranes. The carbon dioxide will transfer across the capillary walls into the blood plasma in where the concentration is lower. The lipid-soluble molecules such as oxygen and steroid hormones can diffuse over the plasma membranes of the endothelial cells.
