Is reproduction important to the survival of an individual? Why would you say that living things reproduce if some individual living things may not reproduce?

For the first question, reproduction is not essential for the survival of an individual (e. g. a person wouldn't die if they decide they don't want to have children). It's important to remember, however, that reproduction IS essential for the survival of the species as a whole (e. g if all humans decided they didn't want to have children, the species wouldn't continue as individuals would die without being replaced by their offspring). I'm not sure what you mean by the second part of your question though, sorry.
