Option D, A former chemical dump site that became a housing development, highlighting the negative effects of toxic materials in the environment on humans

    Explanation:

The story of love canal started in year 1834, when Mr. William T. Love made a canal with the purpose of connecting upper and lower Niagara Fall. By 1920, the project became abandoned and instead of a canal, this dug area was started being used as a municipal and industrial dumping site with harmless material but with the chemical revolution in year 1942, harmful chemical products were also dumped in the same land. By 1951, a housing development project started adjacent to the love canal (dumping ground).

By 1971, series of complaint regarding various health problems were reported by the Niagara County Health Department. In 1976, after a heavy rainfall of three days the harmful chemicals oozed out of the backyards of these homes.
