The cell that is the precursor of all types of blood formed elements is the Hemocytoblast. The formed elements of blood, through the process of hemopoiesis, they are continually produced, replacing the relatively short-lived erythrocytes, leukocytes, and platelets. The process starts in the red bone marrow, with the hemopoietic stem cells that differentiate into myeloid and lymphoid lineages.
