    Explanation:

    Thrombocytosis refers to an elevation in the concentration of thrombocytes in the blood. Thrombocytosis also termed as hyperthrombocytosis is the condition in which the platelet count becomes more than 450 Giga per liter. Thus, it is a disorder in which the body generates too many platelets.

    The condition is differentiated further into two types, that is, reactive thrombocytosis and essential thrombocythemia. The reactive thrombocytosis can be a result of an underlying medical condition like infections, cancer, removal of the spleen, acute bleeding and blood loss, or some kind of inflammatory disorders.

    The cause of essential thrombocythemia is not clear, however, it seems to be associated with certain mutations.
