The themes that are most important of development during these 38 weeks are the growth in the body that makes it go from being a single cell to an acutal full sized baby, at first the head is rather large when compared to the rest of the body but by 38 weeks the baby has become more proportionate, the organs within the body have fully developed functionally and gradually begin to work and become efficient so they will be ready when the baby is born
