Simple carbs can be divided into two subgroups. The two groups are disaccharides (sucrose, lactose and maltose) and monosaccharides (glucose, fructose and galactose). The three single sugars are sucrose, lactose and maltose. The technical name for common single sugar is sucrose. The name of the single sugar or monosaccharide found in the blood is glucose.
