Pulmonary Valve opens to allow blood to be pumped from the heart to the lungs (through the pulmonary artery)

The pulmonary valve lies between the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery. It also has three cusps. When the pressure in the right ventricle rises above the pressure in the pulmonary artery, the pulmonary valve opens in ventricular systole. When the pressure stabilizes, at the end of the ventricular systole, the pressure in the pulmonary artery will close the pulmonary valve.
