A company with a fleet of 150 cars found that the emissions systems of 3 out of the 30 they tested failed to meet pollution control guidelines. Is this strong evidence that more than 20 % of the fleet might be out of compliance? Test an appropriate hypothesis and state your conclusion. Be sure the appropriate assumptions and conditions are satisfied before you proceed.

    No.

    Explanation:

    Given:

    Total number of test (n) = 30

    Percentage = 20% = 0.20

    There is a condition in this situation which state that Positive test condition will greater than 10%.

    The number of satisfaction:

    n x Satisfaction percentage units:

    30 x 0.20 = 6, which is lesser then 10

    The number of Non-satisfaction units:

    n x (1 - Satisfaction percentage)

    30 x (1 - 0.20)

    30 x 0.80 = 24, which is greater then 10

    We should not go with the test because these results are different.
