Productivity simply means being effective as the same efficient. A person for example in a workplace:
He was able finish his job before what is scheduled and was able to do other tasks as additional load. That is productivity.
You have done a job more than what is expected and you did it without extending your time or so.
In a business also: Being productive means having a sale more than what is expected and still thinking of more strategy to be better
