    x + (x+8) = 60

    Therefore Terri stocked 26 boxes and Kay stocked 26+8 boxes = 34 boxes

    Explanation:

    Let the boxes stocked by Terri = x

    Therefore the boxes stocked by Kay = x + 8 because he stocked 8 more boxes

    Hence since they both stocked 60 boxes

    x+x+8 = 60

    2x = 60 - 8

    2x = 52

    divide both sides by 2

    x = 26

    Therefore Terri stocked 26 boxes and Kay stocked 26+8 boxes = 34 boxes
