Why do national income accountants compare the market value of the total outputs in various years rather than actual physical volumes of production?

    Accountants that measure the country's production cannot consider only the output in reduced periods. They have the goal of assessing how the overall economy is fluctuating across the years so actions can be taken about it. Then considering actual physical volumes of production - such as daily or weekly output - is useful only when cumulative in quarters that later on will be studied in years.
