    We will make 2 equations where:

    C - chocolate

    N - nuts

    C + N = 18

    3 C + 1.5 N = 2 (N + C)

    3 C + 1.5 N = 2 N + 2 C

    3 C - 2 C = 2 N - 1.5 N

    C = 0.5 N (we will put it into the 1st equation)

    0.5 N + N = 18

    1.5 N = 18

    N = 18 : 1.5

    N = 12 lb.

    Answer: 12 pounds of nuts are needed for this mixture.
