An open ended question produces a wide variety of responses by allowing respondents to answer in whatever way seems appropriate to them.

Example: What do you think the film was trying to convey?

Closed: Did you like the film? (either yes or no will be the response, or I don't know ...)

Leading: You liked the film, right?

Loaded: Did you have a nice time napping?

Double barreled: Did you enjoy the film and where we sat?
