Marketing myopia is a condition in which a seller (or business) tends to view marketing as a vehicle for selling a specific product, rather than an opportunity to fulfill the needs of a customer. The main problem with that is that while sales may be achieved in the short term, in the long run activities that are proven to continue to grow a business such as maintaining a loyal customer base that keep coming back for your products will be severely hampered. Also of importance is the fact that most industries are constantly evolving, and by locking yourself into a focus on one or two products or solutions (hence, myopia) takes away the flexibility to be adaptable to changing conditions within your particular industry.
