This means that different people have different moral standards that govern how they are supposed to behave in the society. Their many environments with different ethical standards, an example is the work environment. Globally, most work environments have a specific set of principles that guide employee behavior. Since a work environment includes people from various cultural backgrounds and beliefs, a need for ethical principles specific for the work place is usually formulated by the management. These principles are always meant to be followed, however there are a number of factors that affect how the employees might behave. Examples are as follows;

    1. Individual

    These are personal beliefs and principles that guides how a person behaves. When the personal believes contradict the ethical standards at the work place, employees tend to behave more on individual standards.

    2. Social

    These are societal principals often influenced by groups such as family, friends and work mates. In the case above the work mates behaved according o their collective principles which was against company policy.
