The Republic of India is the most populous democracy in the world; however, it suffers from "brain drain." Why do you suppose so many of India's most talented people are eager to leave? How might government be responsible for this brain drain? What is the effect of the brain drain on India's material well-being?

    Answer: Indians migrate to other parts of the country in search of better standard of living which their home country couldn't provide.

    Explanation:

    Brain drain is the movement of skilled individuals from a country to another. Factors promoting migration of Indians to other countries include unemployment, pursuit of higher education, improvement in standard of living, financial incentives and material benefits and improvement of working conditions.

    The government is responsible for the brain drain in India because there are not enough opportunities in the country for the citizens hence, they travel to other countries to seek greener pastures. Also, the state of the infrastructure and education in India cannot be compared to advanced economies like USA, France and Germany which encourage migration.

    The effect of brain drain in India is a serious issue which is having a negative effect on its economy. Its effect include loss of tax revenues, shortage of vital skilled workers, loss of confidence in the economy, massive migration, lack of innovative ideas, loss of critical health services and lack of health officers.
