Mentoring works best when the mentor finds qualities within the person they are training that may be similar or relatable to them. That there is a bond that is formed which creates a respect for both individuals. They will have a vested interest in passing their knowledge on as best as possible and will want the individual to succeed. If top executives dictate the process from afar than it may lose its desired effect.
