    Overall, the primary cause of the the great recession was demand shocks. The global recession which occur in 2008 was caused by a number of factors which worked together to bring about a downturn in the global economy. The principal cause of the great recession was the demand shock which is a sudden event that makes demand to either increase or decrease. In the case of great recession there was sudden decrease in demand for goods and services.
