Sultans (The Kings) had one of the major role in making their empire rise and strong. Weak sultans contributed to the decline of the empire in the following ways:

Lack in Leadership Qualities: When they were weak, therefore, did not have courage to lead their subordinates and empire effectively.

Doing Less trade with other states: When they were week, they could not come on the front, relying on their ministers, for doing the trades with other states. What actually happened then, the ministers started engaging in corruption, looting the state by themselves, increasing their own wealth.

Spending time on their luxurious life: They spent their time on their own luxurious life giving less time to the welfare of their kingdom.

Spending less time in updating the kingdom: They took very less part in adopting the latest technologies which made their kingdom weak competitively.
