A part-time worker earned five times as much in September as in each of the other months. What part of the worker's earnings was earned in September?

    If the part-time worker earned x for each of the other 11 months (aside from September), then he earned 5x for the month of September alone. This gives total annual earnings of 11x + 5x = 16x. Then the fraction of earnings that were earned in September are: 5x / 16x = 5 / 16.
