It is simply because used cars are more likely to need repairs. Due to depreciation in value because of wear and tear, used cars or second hand cars will be needing repairs and maintenance often compared to new cars which don't require a lot of maintenance because all their components are new and have not been interfered with or undergone wear and tear.
