    false

    Explanation:

Based on the information provided within the question it can be said that this statement is completely false. This is mainly due to the fact that an instant message relies on the receiver having the same instant messaging software as the sender in order to receive the message. Otherwise the message will never be sent or the individual who was supposed to receive the message will never get it.

    False

    Explanation:

Instant messaging (IM) is a relatively old technology (almost 30 years old) but it is continuously increasing its popularity. The first IM technology was provided by ICQ and then AOL (America On-line) back in the 90s. Back then cell phones could only be used as telephones, you couldn't even send messages with them.

But now many companies provide IM technology and most do it for free. The catch is that you can only share messages using the same IM technology, e. g. Skype only works with other computers or phones that have Skype, the same with messenger, WA, etc.
