    Answer: The following statements is false: Most people today prefer managers who follow Theory X versus Theory Y.

    Theory X and Y were coined by McGregor in his book titled, "The Human side of Enterprise" under which it refers to two types of management - (Theory X) i. e. the authoritarian and (Theory Y) I. e. participative.

    It should be also noted that the managers who follow them or are inclined towards them, are not necessarily preferred.

    Therefore, the correct option is (b).
