A float plan is very important to have before you go out on a boating trip. There are several things you need to have recorded for the float plan, and always give a copy to someone else in case of an emergency. The person who you leave the plan with should contact the Coast Guard, police, or area rescue agencies if you are not back at the predetermined time,
The float plan should always include the following:
.) a detailed route
.) describe the vessel in great detail
.) registration number of the vessel
.) length, make, horsepower, and engine type
.) the planned departure time
.) the planned return time
.) who will be with you onboard
.) contact information for you and the other passengers onboard
.) medical information about yourself and other passengers
