If you had a part time job that paid you $2,650 in one tax year, you do not have to file a federal tax return. Basically, not everyone is required to file an income tax return each year. You are only required to file a tax return if your income exceeds the standard deduction plus one exemption which is currently $10,350 ($11,900 if 65 or older)
