A hat that costs $25 is on sale for 30% off. What is the sale price?

    If you use a little algebra, you can also take the 30% out of 100%. See:

    (100% * $25) - (30% * $25) = sale price (100% - 30%) * $25 = sale price

    That is factoring out the $25. This simplifies to: 70% * $25 = sale price

    Which is $24.25
