    Let x be the rate charged by first mechanic and y be the rate charged by second mechanic

    x + y = 155

    20x + 5y = 1450

    We have solve for x and y by using simultaneous equations,

    Multiply the first by 5, we get: 5x + 5y = 775

    Second eq. subtact, we get : - 20x-5y = - 1450

    -15x = - 675

    x = 675/15

    x = $45/hr

    Y = 155-45 = $110/hr

    First mechanic charges $45 per hour and the second mechanic charges $110/hr
